Dr. Brittney Kilgore, Owner/Veterinarian

Dr. Brittney Kilgore is the owner and lead veterinarian at Cat Care of Fayette, where she has been proudly serving the Fayetteville community since August 2024. Her journey with the practice began years earlier in 2016, when she first joined the team as a veterinary technician, making her leadership today a natural continuation of a long-standing commitment to feline care.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Kilgore earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Georgia before pursuing her veterinary degree at St. George’s University in Grenada. During her time in veterinary school, she gained a global perspective on medicine while living in the Caribbean, an experience that further shaped her approach to patient care. Her connection to Fayetteville runs deep, having spent much of her childhood visiting her grandparents in the area.

Dr. Kilgore’s passion for veterinary medicine began at just 16 years old when she took her first job in a clinic, encouraged by her family veterinarian. While she always had an interest in medicine, she knew early on that her calling was not in human healthcare, but in advocating for animals. She finds deep fulfillment in solving complex medical cases for patients who cannot speak for themselves and in supporting the people who love them.

Throughout her career, Dr. Kilgore has been especially drawn to the everyday relationships formed in general practice. She knew she had chosen the right profession during her clinical training, where connecting with both pets and their owners felt natural and deeply rewarding. Today, as a practice owner, she takes pride in creating an environment where clients feel genuinely cared for and confident that their cats are in compassionate, capable hands.

Her professional interests focus on areas she believes are often overlooked in feline medicine, including enrichment and lifestyle, nutrition, alternative therapies, and advanced case management. She is passionate about expanding treatment options, especially when conventional approaches fall short, and ensuring cats receive the thoughtful, specialized care they deserve. Dr. Kilgore is a member of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association, a Cat Friendly and Fear Free certified veterinarian, and an active member of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. She is also certified in veterinary acupuncture through Chi University and has completed clinical training in ozone therapy.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Kilgore leads an active and well-rounded life. She shares her home with a lively group of pets, including three cats, Fritz, Eggo, and Lawrence, a rabbit named Pablo, and a beagle named Bagel. A fitness enthusiast with a background in CrossFit, she now enjoys calisthenics and cross-training, along with outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, and gardening. She is conversational in Spanish and enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with her animals.

A fun and unexpected chapter of her life includes her time living in Grenada, where she became a local YouTube personality, gaining recognition across the island’s close-knit community. While her path has taken her across the globe, her focus remains close to home, providing exceptional, compassionate care for cats and the people who love them.
