Wellness Exams
At Cat Care of Fayette, wellness means more than routine checkups—it’s about understanding your cat’s individual constitution, lifestyle, and needs at every life stage. Our comprehensive wellness approach blends traditional veterinary medicine with integrative healing, offering everything from thoughtful vaccine protocols to titer testing that respects your cat’s unique immune system. During your pet’s wellness exam, we will discuss personalized plans for your cat’s health and lifestyle including behavioral concerns, necessary vaccines, and preventative health.
Vaccines
We offer:
- Rabies (1 and 3 year options)
- Note: For a 3-year vaccine, cats must be up to date on rabies and have received a 1-year previously or be coming up due for a 3-year booster
- Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia (FVRCP)
- Feline Leukemia (FeLV) – lifestyle-based recommendation
Vaccine Titer Testing
Is your cat strictly indoor and does not come in contact with any other pets? Do you not want to “over-vaccinate?” At Cat Care of Fayette, we believe in tailoring to a patient’s lifestyle and taking an integrative approach to patient health. Studies have shown that most vaccines last in our pet’s system for over 1 year. That is why we offer titer testing for core vaccines to test if they are maintaining adequate protection against the most common viruses.
Ask about titer testing your cat at their next appointment.
Kitten Services
Kitten core vaccinations are listed below:
- 6–8 weeks: 1st FVRCP
- 10–12 weeks: 2nd FVRCP, +/- 1st FeLV
- 14–16 weeks: 3rd FVRCP, Rabies, +/- 2nd FeLV
If your kitten is older or you have questions about vaccine series, we can discuss the appropriate schedule at your appointment.
Spay & Neuter
We recommend spaying and neutering your cat once they have hit the 4 to 6 month age range. Spaying and neutering as an older kitten allows for hormones to facilitate adequate growth. Both spaying and neutering help to reduce the population of stray cats, especially if your kitty is indoor-outdoor or has outdoor access.
Spay: Helps prevent the development of mammary cancer in older females and undesired behavior such as yowling and scooting.
Neuter: Helps prevent undesired behavior such as spraying/marking, roaming, and aggression.
We pride ourselves on supporting your pet’s complete wellness journey. Because when it comes to your feline family member, personalized care isn’t just better—it’s essential.
